Earth Ritual - Shroud and Burial Project
(September 2011)
Transformation by the Earth. The books were disemboweled, custom tailored shrouds were hand sewn for them, and they were buried in a circle (with flowers) around a deer skeleton in a field in rural Pennsylvania. The full transformation includes their re-shaping, re-covering and slow decay.

The Transformation Rituals are a series of ritualized events that look to transform and let go of both the physical text of the books and the emotional weight of their contents.

The Autumn Equinox Burial Ritual was cooperatively conducted as a group project with artists Liz Tomasetti and Sarah West during our residency at Soaring Gardens in Laceyville, PA.
