For the past few years I have been working with a specific line of romance novels, and I have begun to feel weighed down by them. The books are heavy, for one thing. But also, the stories are filled with injury, anger and resentment. Just seeing the words and having them pass through my hands has started to feel too cumbersome, too sad.

The Transformation Rituals are a series of ritualized events where I attempted to transform and let go of both the physical text of the books and the emotional weight of their contents.
